Working with Vodafone
Vodafone buys products and services across all our markets. We work closely with our suppliers to provide innovative solutions in a sustainable and ethical environment.
All of our suppliers complete our detailed qualification process to guarantee that they meet our business requirements and expectations.
Discover supply chain
Our supply chain team is responsible for purchasing products and services across the markets that we work in that help run our business, such as equipment for our networks, corporate services and IT infrastructure.
We have divided our supply chain into two areas:
- The Vodafone procurement company
Our centralised strategic procurement function with global accountability for activities relating to suppliers and the overall operational effectiveness of supply chain across categories and geographies.
- Local market operations teams
Local teams that are accountable for customer management and commercial savings in their markets.
Since our foundation, the supply chain team has been on an ongoing journey, with the goal of being recognised as the best in our field. Operating along the entire value chain, we've been recognised many times in the industry for our high performance.
We’ve set up a landscape of tools and processes to make working with us faster, simpler and more secure for all of our suppliers. A selection of these are listed below:
The sourcing tool gives access to our negotiation and inquiry processes (RFx, Auctions). It’s an interactive tool, with suppliers able to see how their offers compare to their competitors so that they can improve on these offers to win business with us.
The B2B hub is an electronic business-to-business interface that allows the exchange of purchase orders, purchase order amendments, invoices and goods receipt notices electronically. We’re committed to reducing cost and complexity, so we therefore require our suppliers to connect to our B2B Hub.
Our electronic signature solution simplifies the contracting process, reducing the process from a matter of weeks to a matter of days. It’s also fully in line with our environmental ambitions, reducing paper usage.
Supply chain financing
We offer early payments to suppliers on their approved invoices at competitive financing rates, giving them control of their liquidity as well as more accurate cash-flow forecasting.
- The Vodafone procurement company
The relationships we have with our suppliers are critical to the success of our business. How we engage and collaborate with our partners is governed by our Supplier Management programme - one of the key ways in which we build strong relationships, creating greater value, increasing innovation and improving efficiency.
From initial engagement with a supplier, through to ongoing compliance and performance management, our approach contains a set of processes spanning multiple disciplines. These include:
Supplier qualification - a pre-requisite before we will begin working with a supplier.
Supplier segmentation - a series of reviews conducted across our supply base that helps differentiate how we engage with suppliers.
Supplier performance evaluation - a series of assessments across our local markets and group functions based on nine core performance pillars, using Net Promoter Scoring to underpin our goal of supplier performance excellence.
Supplier optimisation – we work with our suppliers to identify and deliver improvement, collaborating with them to set priorities and define clear expectations balanced between short-term actions and longer term roadmaps.
Supplier audits - through our general risk assessments, supplier self-assessments we identify high-risk suppliers who are then scheduled for a more detailed audit and follow up.
Health, safety & wellbeing
We require everyone working with us, from individuals to multinational companies, to be aware of and follow our approach and expectations on health, safety and wellbeing.
All employees, suppliers and contractors working for Vodafone must follow our seven Absolute Rules.
We’re deeply passionate about innovation and are always looking for game changing products. We’re searching for the products and services that will make a real and positive difference in the world, fulfilling the needs of our customers and making their lives easier.
From the moment the first mobile phone call in Britain was made over three decades ago, Vodafone has been in the business of innovation. Working together with suppliers we’re able to keep innovating and developing new solutions to improve the service we provide to our customers and the way we operate. We’re always searching for the next big idea to change the world and change people’s lives for the better.
We’re able to support businesses with great ideas to reach the scale that they deserve. Our market knowledge and global footprint give us the ability to promote their products and services to the largest possible audience.
